Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Son Tay raid - rescue of POWs. As it happens one of the then Lockheed Martin HC-130 which took part, ended up with the 67th SOS as an MC-130P named the ‘Son Tay Raider’. Attended the American Air Day 2012 at IWM and had pleasure of seeing and sitting in Son Tay Raider so here are my photos.

Great pictures and story. I have an old friend MSGT Robbie Robinet who was one of the Special Forces guys who went on that raid. He told me that when they got in there and found the prison camp abandoned there was so much hope and pressure to succeed that he and many others just burst out crying.
