ALAT Gazelle gets shot down during ops in Mali a year ago, and in shades of Ed Macy’s rescue of deceased Marine Ford in Afghanistan, Tigre crew flew in to rescue them. Using TIGREX’ (Tiger Extraction) procedure was developed a few years previously during Afghan ops . It was, however, only designed for two men who are supposed to stand on a side step and wrap their survival strap around the landing gear.

I thought going to war in Aerospatiale's Plastic Pursuit Ship was silly 30 years ago, as impressive as the 9mm Browning pistol armament was in it's day. Glad they got out of it OK, but the Gazelle is not what you want strapped to your ass when the shooting starts.
