Went to switch the computer off last night after watching a bit of telly and was met with this ....

I scanned the SQ code with my phone and it took me here .....

Which asked "When Did You Get The Error?" "after an update is installed" or "whilst using the device"

I wasn't expecting an update, but it would seem that's what I got last night, out of the blue, so to speak :(. After it had gathered the data, it shut down and rebooted and again, several times . It took a very long time, but it did eventually sort itself out and restart to the desktop and it appears to working normally :) .

Always beware of the monthly update usually the 2nd Tuesday/Wednesday of each month. I pause updates for at least 2 weeks after they are planned, using the "Pause updates" option on the "windows update" screen, because often the planned update is not tested properly and affects some other programs. After a couple of weeks any problems caused are usually flagged up and sorted. Also worth creating a restore point a day or two before any planned update so if you do experience a problem you can go back.

I went in to check my restore point and it wouldn't let me turn on system protection.
