ABC reports 8 regional airports will no longer require security including Longreach and Barcaldine. Does anyone know the other 6 ? Presume all are Rex ports, with low frequency flights (2 per day or less)

Why? Are you going to start another charter airline, BNEA320?

Why are you asking? You should know.

You're the self proclaimed "TRAVEL EXPERT" at everything, you should know this stuff, BNEA320.

Why haven't you applied for the airlines yet, they're willing to share in your knowledge as displayed on your snoworld website.

How does that work with then arriving into a security screener airport with the ability to then fly into larger areas such as Melbourne or Sydney? Without being scanned.

When arriving the passengers will not enter into the screened departure area, they will exit the tarmac directly into the unscreened baggage claim / pre checkin area.

Longreach is a QF port so therefore you assume all the rest will be Rex ports. Interesting logic TT737. However, and more to the point, big deal as some airports now need screening and some don’t.

Rex (/and 'the' Sharpie) do, run the inter-connection ex TSV into LRE (via Winton) for, the Northern ports interface- of 'The QLD Western Routes Contract' (Qld Government- Social Justice, Apparently!!!!).

However, Bacaldine, Blackall etc- are all QF/Sunstate (without researching that contract for Segment #'s)- and also 'there' maybe/is a 12mth option (the Last of 2x) on all of that, about to be- exercised/announced!!!- 'one' maybe, 'given' to understand????? or NOT.

AnyHoo- 'BNEA320/TT727/Getaway- et al', shall be along soon- to explain and Educate........, stay tuned!!!!

Didn’t realise people were stealing regional airports.

Invariably, security is paid for by a levy on the passenger tickets. No passengers = no money=no security (also = no need).

Apparently for those tier 2 (think that’s it) security controlled aerodromes that are serviced by Rex, are being downgraded to Tier 1, even though the requirements for tier 2 are very minimal and at least in one case the affected council doesn’t want to be downgraded.

The repercussions of the downgrade though, is Rex are threatening to pull out unless tier 2 is maintained.

Has Dutton had a brain meltdown? It’s been ludicrous all along to expect a host of regional airports to put in half a million dollars worth of body scanning equipment and expect a handful of gimps that cant even spell their own names to be able to identify an IED, something that in fact numerous AMS (formerly OTS) Inspectors themselves have failed to do. Now a complete backflip at some airports? Idiots. The AMS went quiet for 6 months but have renewed their interest in issuing NCN’s and have been belting airports in NSW and QLD, spending 4 days at pissy little aerodromes making life hell for staff and pinging people for have wrong page numbers on security manuals or a misplaced training record. FFS, bureaucracy gone mad. Why hasn’t COVID made all of these muppets redundant as well?

At a time when so many in the industry are suffering because of the cutback and covid I thought it might be time to reflect on some of the amusing sides of security screening.
I do not remember what year the domestic carriers introduced security screening. Sometime in the 1980's I think. But within the first few months there certainly were some surprises.
Passengers soon got wind of the fact that the security staff could tell what was in their carry on items. The result was that the poor cleaners at the major domestic hubs were continually delivering various forms of sex toys to the lost baggage/lost property counters that were found left in the terminal toilets. This was of great amusement to most who worked in that area. The company policy at TN was that all lost property be held for up to three months and then sent of to be auctioned. I think the proceeds went to charity. Needless to say that after not being claimed there was a whole filing cabinet full of these things. But there was one offending item made of rubber that was so large that it was nicknamed ' The Destroyer.' Was boiled and used as a paperweight for some years. Just as well we were all pretty open minded and had a sense of humour and especially the female ground staff who worked in that area.

Rex seem to have a bit of spare cash about at the moment. Perhaps they can pay for the security they desire?

A search for tier 2 airports, brings up a lot of govt garbage.

was told by govt official that airports who want exemption from secuity, have to apply. No airport is granted exemption without asking.

ok info I've found is that airports need to apply. MTOW doesn't come into it, it depends on number of pax.

Some airports won't have any flights if they have to incur massive security costs for very few flights.

Anyone know much about this mob of
cowboys? They look after security at a couple of Queensland airports - CNS, MKY and PPP. Apparently the wheels started to fall off a few months ago and I’ve heard that they are thoroughly useless and are falling under the close eye of AMS. Apparently they are losing heaps of money and just punted some reputable managers as the great unravelling speeds up. They flog that ARO electronic reporting software to airports but it is complete rubbish and they are losing money on it big time. Another bunch of clowns trying to tell the aviation industry how to suck eggs.

What ARO software is that?
I’ve talked to a couple of airports, it’s called ARINS. Apparently it collects good data but the system itself is unreliable and it costs too much money to buy and isn’t worth it. I’ve got no need to use it so I can’t vouch for the feedback. The particular airport I fly casually into reckons the airport security staff are idiots and have also failed many IED tests.
