On 24 Oct. at around 9:30am, a plane taking off from La cote at Prangins (LSGP) crashed near Gimel. Witnesses observed possible engine failure before the crash. The pilot (in the eighties), the only occupant of the plane, died on site.

This sad story is made even more tragic with local media reports of evidence that the pilot may have taken his own life in this incident. He was a very well respected member of the local community and an experienced pilot (quoted as 5000 hours).

I add this late news for the sake of completeness but see no point in giving more details. If anyone wants me to summarise the press report I can do so, perhaps via PM.
