I've been looking for some decent Berlin Airlift footage of Civil Halifax/Halton aeroplanes but drawn a blank. I did come across this footage of Hastings. Not sure which Squadron is depicted. TG523 should give a clue. 45 Squadron arrived at Schleswigsland from Dishforth on November 1st and operated their first sorties November 11th 1948. 297 Squadron joined them at Schleswigland the following month. Footage appears to be taken at Schleswigland and Gatow. German labour is depicted expanding airfield facilities and loading/offloading. All that coal dust on those lovely new aeroplanes!

Not 45 Sqn - they were out in Malaya then with Mosquitos and then Brigands.. 47 Sqn perhaps?

Yes, 47 Sqn did indeed move from Dishforth to Schleswigland in November 1948.

No shortage of hardcore for the taxiways.
