Thanks - seen a photo of handpropping a J3 prop from the outside, but nice to see a video too!

Very dangerous. They didn’t chock the wheels.

That's OK; it was tied down (or tied on...).

What kind of cowboy stunt is this? Doesn't the PIC know the dangers of not yelling "clear prop"?

This was obviously a video/social media stunt. Neither logic nor intelligence was involved; however, it was a pretty cool video. As one who has hand propped a Champ 7AC many times, it was interesting that the prop blade was in just the right position for a hand "nudge". I'm sure that the subject airplane was not equipped with an electrical system and a starter ... right? Other than that, a shoo-in for a Darwin Award!

Cheers,
Grog

Nothing new under the sun. There is a photo floating around somewhere on the web taken from another aircraft of a chap out on the wheel of a Piper Cub or similar back in the 1930's with a stopped prop. Don't think he would have had a safety rope, being the days of the wing walkers etc.

No hi-viz jacket. Amazing he's still alive.

Luv the fall-arrest system tied to the belt of his jeans.

The only function I can see for that is to use him as a dangling GPWS for the benefit of the guy still on board.

Some of the old `airborne endurance `guys used to change the plugs as well...
