A lot of things have changed in the 30 years since I left the RAF, this has got to be the most radical non-conformist departure from service culture and traditions, certainly as I've always understood them. But I'm sure others may think differently.

PS

I'm not of course saying that such hair styles are unacceptable generally but I can't see how breaking every norm of service ethos by adopting styles which might not look right in uniform, on parade etc, is going to address a recruitment shortfall. I honestly think the service needs to re-visit its past traditions, this goes for the Navy and Army as well, and think about being honest for a change, no problems recruiting anyone from anywhere or any background, but all must realise its the Royal Air Force they are joining. The services should aim to recruit based on a fair but positive presentation of service life.

Indeed Mr Hawk, I've just noticed, thought I'd scanned properly the first time but was to eager I dare say, to get the news out! MODs feel free to close this one off.
