Don't ya love it when the T'internet gets their basic facts straight!!! Perhaps it could come under a PPL SEP rating? (SEJ rating????)

Their colour schemes would indicate ex MOD (DPA) aircraft rather than ex RAF.
I know several Bedford based Canberras (ex RRE Pershore) were stored at Farnborough after Bedford closed and when EFW subsequently moved to Boscombe Down in the early/mid '90s, they were sold off and flown out, 2 of them to Bruntingthorpe.

Wish I had the time and money, that Albatross would be a great project. Jimmy Buffett it out for an ultimate play toy.

Yes, as already posted above by Wrathmonk, both never saw any RAF service.

Is that a Trader to the right of the Albatross?

Particularly unfortunate given those who paid the ultimate price for the Canberra's asymmetric handling issues.

There’s a virtually abandoned one sat on the grass at EGJJ ... annoyed me seeing it every time our BA thingy taxied past it.

I'd like to see it take off with that lot stuck under it. By the way, why would you need an HGV1?........oh......right.

Some good news on the Canberra front.

Group,

The Auction concluded and one of the Aircraft (N30UP) went to a museum in England, and I won the second aircraft (N40UP).
I am still trying to contact the Museum and check on their plans for the aircraft.
My understanding is they plan to part it out, but still needs to be verified.

The current plan for N40UP:
1. put power on and check Electric System
2. Attempt engine Starts (Carts and/or Huffer).
3. check for Hyd/Fuel leaks
4. try and taxi the aircraft.
4. Check Pitot/Static system.
5. Conduct Gear swings
6. Change tires, check brakes
7. Get ferry permit, to take Aircraft to California city Airport (L71)
8. Continue restoration to flight.

Currently looking for a set of maintenance manuals for the Canberra B.6 aircraft.

Thank You
Avn-Tech

Group,

Some people are making the assumption that the UK museum is VTTS, as WT327, is actually fitted with the original nose section from WK163, owned by VTTS, and thus they have acquired it to re-unite the nose section with the rest of WK163, as well as providing a spares source for WK......

It remains to be seen as to whether that is true or not, although, you would have to say that the cost of a UK museum getting a non-airworthy Canberra back from USA as a spares source doesn't make much sense unless it has something you really want from it......

VTTT's Canberra has been sitting outside for years partially stripped down, i think it is going to take more than a quick buff and polish to get it back into the air,

as has Vulcan XH558, which was supposed to be safely undercover, i.e. in a hangar

I think the ones in the USA last flew in around 2003/4.....so probably about the same time as WK163 last flew in the UK, when it was with Classic Jets at Coventry...???

WK163 won't even fly again IMHO.
