Hi all,
How can one convert a GCAA license from the UAE to an EASA or FAA license? Is extra training required and what would the cost be approximately?

I am thinking about training at EFTA (by Emirates), but I’ll get a GCAA license of course. If I ever want to switch away from Emirates, I’d like to know what my options would be.

Thanks!

A somewhat academic question as the chances of employment is virtually non existent in the present C-19 tsunami.

Although you may sit essentially the same 14 EASA exams, you will be issued with a non EASA (ICAO) licence.
For an EASA licence you are required to (re)sit the ‘official’ EASA exams.

Stick with your European plan as indicated by your previous posts.

Hey Vischjager,

I currently hold a GCAA license (PPL + night) and am looking to transfer it ASAP also.

I would save your money and stay in the EU to do your training, unless you are going to be employed by Emirates on completion there really is no GA in the UAE so getting the license is pointless.

The cost to get my PPL was astronomical, I could have done it for a quarter of the cost back in the UK. I'll admit the ground school was thorough, and the flight training excellent. But the cost....
