Oh the humanity.

Hopefully CASA will come down on the operator and pilot with the full force of the law, after suspending their certificates. Somebody must have made a mistake. Heads must roll.

Was it a landing overrun or an aborted takeoff?

Same 182 that had a bad landing incident at Moorabbin a few years ago.

Must have been flying without a Medical..

C182 runs off the end of a 1.4km runway.

god give me strength....

Looks more like a heavy landing with subsequent nose wheel collapse then prop strike to me.
Use the main landing gear first, its much stronger than the nose gear! :{

I wonder if nighttime was a factor in the incident ? Misjudging a landing a night is more likely than during the day, especially if the pilot is inexperienced.

The elevator trim, flaps and cowl flaps appear to be in the takeoff position??

The LED runway lights at Bankstown are effing bright too! A little while since I’ve been there, but last time I was there I was surprised how bright they were. I found them almost a little dazzling on short final and in the flare.

Social media saying engine failed at around 300 ft and they landed straight ahead on what little runway was remaining. Good job if accurate!

"Bankstown Traffic, DDS landing...long" :P glad to hear they're ok.

Actually I take the hard landing back. From what I have heard, it seems like a successful forced landing that they walked away from. Machines can be easily fixed or replaced, different story with people.

Saw on 7 news a C404 emergency landing at Bankstown yesterday.
Something obviously not right it looked like only Approach Flap on final on the news footage and showed a flat nose wheel after landing.

News also states aircraft flew for an hour to “ dump fuel”. Hmmm.......

Alice Kiwican it was VH-VOA https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=345529020192411&extid=MnKOGkufbDdClFmi
Landed without incident...well you know, except for that flat nose tyre :P

Question - How did the VH-VOA man know he had a flat nosewheel tyre?

Do they have those pressure sensors on them now?

Just curious is all....Cheers

It probably blew on takeoff.

Goodness, that rego doesn't have the best history. Back in the late 90's it belonged to a Beagle B121 (in which I did my aeros endorsement - I won't name the operator), which IIRC made a FLWOP into a corn field near The Oaks.
Glad to see they walked away from this (as I think they did in the 121).

It’s funny how the mystique of aviation manifests itself.

A Subaru Outback crashed into a sign on the footpath outside my house last week. A rego check indicated that around 21 years ago a Toyota Corolla with the same rego crashed into the back of a bus. Glad to see that both drivers walked away, but that rego doesn’t have the best history.

As I said: Oh the humanity.
