Visible Scars for Pilots in ME?

Hey y'all,

I was wondering if pilots applying to Middle Eastern airlines (EK, QR, EY, etc.) are allowed to have visible scars (that are not linked to any medical condition at all) on their limbs and chest by any chance?
I know that they're going pretty strict on this sort of thing when it comes to selecting flight attendants, but I can't seem to find any info about whether if they're using the same standard for pilot selection.

Got a few scars but never had a problem in the ME, keep pants on and a long sleeve shirts.
(not sure if you are taking about facial scars..?)

Do you mean that pilots applying for ME airlines can have scars or cannot have scars? Just to clarify.

I have a 4 inch-long scar on my outer forearm that ends about 2 inches apart from the position of my wrist watch - that is not too distinctive, but clearly can be seen if someone is looking at my arm.
Do they ask you to submit any questionnaire about body scars (like the flight attendants do) or go through any sort of body inspection during the pilot selection process (or during the med certification), may I ask?

They are not recruiting anyone for a long time to come, still throwing away the last used ones.......
I dont think it would be a problem for a pilot but Cc it would be probably.

Shouldn't be a problem, not least because you will pick up plenty of scars whilst in the Middle East. Most of them mental and emotional though, so less visible than physical scars, but much more concerning. :rolleyes:

The supply of pilots will be outstripping demand for the next few years. All things being equal why hire someone with scars? Not trying to be cruel but the interviewer does not have time to dig deeper.

I have a scar similar to what you’re describing - the doctor noted it as an identifying feature during my initial medical but apart from that nothing was ever said

Living and working in the ME will leave you with scares. Not physical ones though.

Fatbus : yeah. Better over on "jetblast " really. While we are here though, ex mate of mine was the centre of a three car pile up & survived but left with multiple body scars. Never affected his flying career with several carriers under his belt. Had an enviable career with the chicks too.

Self-harming scars, you know, multiple fag-end burns , knife scars , across the wrists rather than along the forearm ..........might.........just , worry the quacks , but I doubt it.
