View Full Version : What does 're-routed' mean?
BA2585 17/8 (Venice / London) shows in the app as 're-routed' with a comment that 'for further information ask at the airport'.
This is obviously slightly disconcerting: asking at the airport for the return leg is not great.
I have had two corrupt emails from them that are not readable.
BA don't answer the phone at the moment.
Does anyone know what this actually means?

Well a reroute is a deviation from the previous route, it could be that the flight is departing from an airport other than VCE, it could be that it's arriving to an airport other than the scheduled LON airport, it could be that they have combined flights and it is routing VCE/LON via an intermediary airport, it could be one of a variety of things but then what sort of advance information would you really expect from the world's favourite? :)

No, it was always Heathrow.
If we turn up at Venice and it ain't going from there it will be an interesting afternoon! And if it doesn't land at Heathrow that won't be ideal either. The flight duraton has not changed.

BA2585 was indeed originally a VCE-LGW flight number. It last operated to LGW in March and resumed at the beginning of August, but now routeing VCE-LHR.
This is helpful.
So if you booked before March you thought it was going to Gatwick. But if you booked recently there is no change?
You would think they would be able to differentiate who booked what, but.....

You're talking about BA here......
Almost none of their flights now operate out of LGW.
"Interestingly" I did a bit of online research. If you check flights to certain destinations that were originally scheduled to depart from LGW but have been re-routed to leave from LHR, they generally show as "on time" on the expected day of departure, but looking ahead to the next day or days, they flag up the flight as "re-routed, check with airline" message, when it does indeed appear that the re-routing is "simply" that they have been changed from LGW to LHR

Wind them up, no doubt they are providing bus tickets LHR/LGW, too much for the world's favourite to lay on a coach when they re-routed me, queue up and get your bus ticket also :)
