Why just A320 pilots? this problem has been around for years. The BAe146 was called the gas chamber for good reason. Ansett devoted a lot of time and money to solve the problem but I don't think it ever did. Interesting that the report didn't reference the A320 FCTM which refers to the smell of dirty socks as indicating a leak in the engine or APU oil system. I think one of the theoretical culprits was the use of synthetic oil.
