So how do the Virgin Australia staff here feel about leaving Bowen Hills for the CBD? The move is on middle of September, it seems.

I can't image that Virgin's Sydney "corporate office" is going to keep its doors open. Wasn't it only opened because John Borghetti wanted a SYD base instead of having to commute to BNE every day or, shock horror, having to move to and live in BNE? They can probably use the closure of the SYD office to get rid of a lot of hangers-on who are based in SYD too, eg their 'head of customer experience' or whatever that job is. There can't be that many jobs in SYD which can't be done by people in BNE anyway.

From 12000 sqm at the Village to 5 floors at the new address. Sets the scene for a fairly drastic headcount reduction!

I was going to say 5 floors might be too much I assume it’s a small office.

Bit like Target when it moved from its Geelong HQ to Melbourne. Went from the same sized office as Virgin to only 2 floors in an office building west of Melbourne. Efficiencies in technology and new office setups wiped two thirds of the office workforce.

There should not be anymore than a few hundred people needed at HQ. What on earth were all those people doing every day. Sweet FA it seems.

The only risk is talent is better in Melbourne and Sydney if they are chasing quality people on a global scale. Woolworths opened a cbd office for this very reason. They have been able to lure talent from the likes of Amazon and the Bay Area.

The issue with Virgin is the HQ talent they have is bottom of the barrel. Virgin is in urgent need of talent from other high standard operators that reside in the likes of Bella Vista. Especially on the Digital and Data front. Needed to be in Sydney. Those two things are incredibly important to get right.

PS too busy in bed with the Labor government. Better minds down south would have paid for itself. Better Business = Better People. Isn’t that what they are trying to fix?

not CBD but close by at Southbank on other side of river.

However, what would other travel agents feel about V2 & Flight Centre together ? Graham Turner FC CEO has stated that it will be good to be close to V2, but will that mean FC get preferred treatment from V2 ?

Virgin is outsourcing all ticket sales to Flight centre?. Smart move, getting rid of their own overpaid latte sippers.
