Heard the rumour today. Sad news for all the guys at Doncaster and Biggin Hill but I hear many have already secured new positions with the other large professionally run Citation Service Centres in the UK. Why they ever set up in the North of England is very odd but doesn’t compare to what they spent on the Spanish facility. Interesting to see what that have to say as to why the UK has no place for Textron Aviation.

Absolutely “nowt wrong” with the North of England but not the ideal location for a BizJet Mx company in my opinion.

AeroCare are doing a great job at “Chester” and will surely benefit from the demise of Textron Aviation UK.

I’m amazed Textron won’t have a UK Mx Facility but maybe the plans are to have something nearer London once the slate has been wiped clean of the current UK set up?

Does this mean we have to push our tool boxes back to Birmingham?

.....not the ideal location for a BizJet Mx company in my opinion.

Understand entirely where you're coming from, however there is a good deal of bizjet traffic North of Watford too.:ok:

However - back on the original subject, it's interesting given the announcement made by Textron as recently as May 24 (from their website)

"Textron Aviation has expanded the capabilities of its Doncaster, UK service center, with several new foreign maintenance approvals, and the addition of a second mobile service unit, to provide its fixed-wing customers additional flexibility for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events.

That facility and the London Luton line maintenance station recently received authorization from Aruba, Bermuda and Qatar, to service aircraft registered in those countries, announcements which come on the heels of the addition of Hawker maintenance and support at the Doncaster location.

“Expanding our capabilities at Doncaster has allowed us to bring factory direct support to the entire fleet of Citation, King Air and Hawker aircraft operating in the region, and this strategy is clearly resonating throughout of customer base,” said Kriya Shortt, the airframer’senior vice president for customer service. “There is no substitute for factory-direct service, which gives owners and operators peace of mind."

and it is Hawarden Airport (not Chester)...:p

Rumour mill at Farnborough over the last year, is that a new hangar on the south side (next to the BAE Terminal) will be built for Textron. I can’t supply a link but I’m sure the plans for the build are online.

Location is not really an issue if you deliver on price, quality & service in this very challenging sector.
