hi Anyone know the Tail Nos vs A/C Reg of the 27 Sqn Tornados when sqn formed in 1983 please? Later they changed to Tail Letters but not interested in later. Specificall looking for 01 and 02 if poss. Many thanks.

According to the info in Tornado by Francis K. Mason ZA607 was coded '01' and ZA609 was coded '02' when issued to No.27 Squadron in May 1983.

hi Martin Many thanks, altho' his info not always accurate. ZA 603, for example, on same page - there was no A10 involved, in fact no other a/c at all. Have air-to-air photo of 01 in Sep 85 and have finally determined - from logbook comparisons - that it was, then, ZA553. Sadly as I'm new to PPrune I cannot post either of the photos or their URLs but one is the Devil's Tower pohoto and the other is a Flikr one after a/c diverted to Coltishall in '86.
