Hi,
Is completion of UPRT training a requirement for licence issuance?
If integrated course started before 20 December 2019, UPRT shall not be mandatory! until 20 December 2021.
It should be part of integrated sources from 20 December 2019, but not a requirement for licencing surely? not until 2021.
What is the practices around Europe.

Not aware it is needed for license issue, but you will need before you can start your first multi pilot type rating.

Appendix 3 to FCL applies here. An integrated ATPL(A) course must include Advanced UPRT training before the course can be completed, although CPL and IR tests may be taken before that UPRT training has been completed, since that and the MCC (also a mandatory part of the course) are the final elements. A modular CPL course does not require Advanced UPRT. A-UPRT is therefore required for licence issue when an integrated course is undertaken, since the course has not been completed until all elements are complete. Covid-19 has been punitive for a lot of students, especially those on integrated courses who just needed UPRT and MCC to complete their courses, having already done CPL and IR flight tests, potentially (in a few cases) with single pilot IFR jobs waiting!

For integrated course students, the minimum experience for the MCC certificate is the TKI (groundschool) and four simulator exercises totalling 16 hours MP training ( PF 8 / PM 8 ). Then licence issue.
Normally an ATO would offer either 9 or 10 simulator exercises (MCC/APS) which is clearly far more effective than the minimum legally required.

One option, with the agreement of the ATO, is to complete the minimum now, and the balance 5/6 exercises when the “green shoots” appear. Getting back in the grove, and hitting the ground running when those interview / sim rides eventually reappear.

Modular students have the flexibility to choose which MCC style and UPRT courses after licence issue.

As the Rt Hon Gentleman has pointed out in other threads, unfortunately not all ATOs are likely to survive the tsunami.
