What's the difference between the Vietjet Cadet Program and the Bamboo Cadet Program?

VietJet is about $200,000 USD including the cost of your TR and the $20,000 the CAAV wants for a Vietnamese license if you didn't go to one of their approved schools.

I don't know what the total cost is for Bamboo. I've read $87,000 for Bamboo, but that wouldn't include your TR. And there will no doubt be "extra" expenses, such as the CAAV's $20K fee and any other fees they can dream up.

At any rate, the airlines are in dire straights right now. Anyone handing over huge sums of money to airlines in 3rd world countries is one hell of a gambler.

I've heard the VietJet cadets have all been sent home, and I'm sure many are sweating bullets.

I've heard a lot of them borrowed the full $200,000.

Bamboo is in deep financial crisis, with debits with most of handling agents and airports.
They are not paying employee salaries since February

I honestly struggle to understand how anyone plans to spend 200.000 us dollars for a pilot program.
I know universities can be that expensive in the US, and still no way I or anyone I know would have been able to afford that, but at least It’ s an Ivy League university degree.
I have been flying for 20 years and I am shocked by these numbers.

I can only second that. Close to 17 years of flying and my initial CPL/ME/IR (200hrs) cost me around 20k EUR doing a modular course spreading over a 2 year period with the odd job in between to support myself. Now even if i correct for inflation will it come close to the 200k USD mark. Unbelievable.

There are a lot of extremely rich people in Asia. Most are poor or sorta middle, but for a minority $200,000 is pocket change.

If you factor in the cost of your basic PPL/CPL/ME IR, and say it costs you $60,000, you're basically looking at around $260,000 for Vietjet.

Again, for some people, that's spare change.

In Asia, buying jobs with black money is par for the course. It happens in other industries too, and it's especially common in Vietnam.

The woman who owns VJ is a billionaire. In a way, this whole thing is sheer genius from a business point of view.

The mount you refer for VJ is not true and basically you will never get that money back in your life because aviation market is over. They are just collecting money from desperate and blind that refuse to realize the game.

The amount is true if you're a foreigner. (Vietjet Fee + Agent Fee + CAAV fee + Interview fee + A320 TR Cost).

If you're a Vietnamese, the price is different.

And aviation is not over. In a couple years this virus will be over and things will be back to normal.
