Any tips for finding out what the large 4 engined prop aircraft flying around here (near EMA) yesterday was? Unfortunately couldn't get a good look at it - it was noisy by modern standards so guessing it might have been a C-130 or similar - but cannot get any detail from any flight tracker sites - I imagine it might have been RAF although they are not frequent visitors.

Given they seem to have been everywhere recently, it sounds like an A400 Atlas. The RAF seem to have taken advantage of the relatively clear skies to practice arrivals and deartures from most UK airports, in between transporting supplies of PPE and patients from the northern Isles.

As mentioned, I know the RAF's A400M's are popping into my local, Newcastle, a bit more than normal at the moment. Could it be one of those?

What time was it?

I can't be sure exactly - but mid-afternoon time.

I'm intrigued now! Also can't find it on any radar replay. I see Brize tweeted they'd be bringing an A400 and a C17 up to you today for training, but nothing for yesterday.
