Following the post on Chris and Sons Ive decided we should decide once and for all where the best kebab at Akronelli is, so vote, explain why.
Oh and add all the gratuitous stories of kebabs gone "wrong" obviously.....

Nah, ya gotta go to Dhekelia for the BEST kebabs.....Brunels for Kebabs and Dions for the beer....

Following a 2 crater outside one of the blocks, I reckon they're all the same. Excellent nonetheless.

Or of course the place opposite the Episkopiana (if it's still open?)

Yeh that's not bad, Stoppers - not sure about the broken white plastic patio furniture, though. But if you are lucky enough to stay in the Epi, it's worth going to the Buccaneer then on to Michaels which is behind the pub.

BTW, is it me, or are the Cyp rates not what they used to be?

It's got to be Polis. After a crate of Keo outside 101 the prospect of a couple of trips to the "RAF servery" for all you can eat salad, feta and wallpaper paste is too much to ignore. Add to that the sight of Mr and Mrs P laying into each other followed by some poor innocent Kebab virgin scalding his lips, face, neck etc on scalding "fil faa's"and the night is complete.

Arty is dead right that Michael's is great, also whilst not a kebeb house Steff's bar is tops.

Anyone else here had Flip Flop's revenge after a curry in Shalimar's?

all spelling mistakes are "df" alcohol induced

Strange how the bondhu cat population decreased significantly once the Shalimar opened......

The sound of a block 101 door being opened in a hurry followed by desperate flip-flopping as some poor unfortunate rushes to the khazi......a true sound of Akronelli. As was the 'pssht....DOINNGG' sound of the Malavel rotary hand bell fire alarm being used as a bottle opener which used to come from every veranda until the fun detctors fitted electric fire alarms!

Sorry,

Can't beat 'Diamond Kebabs', in Kingswood High Street, Bristol.

I tell you, what I wouldn't give for one of them right now!!!!

And while we're in the home country - is Efes' by the railway bridge in Shrewsbury still an essential post-closing-time stop for Studes on their way back to EGOS?? ;)

Someone else appreciates a proper Kebab!
Just a shame that the queer chef drips onto the food, but then the taste..............

Chris' is the most convenient with the transport and the adjecant Akro Arms, but the food quality has been going downl and the prices up in all the years I've been going there.

For a stand up kebab, the chicken Shwarma with garlic mayonaise at Ebeneezer's, Wan Chai, Hong Kong cannot be beaten. Just don't come within 10 yards of anyone the next day.

As has the price of a jug of brandy sour in the OM at Akrotiri!

Dan - within 10 yards of which end.......

Polis by a mile. Tried the 'Shalimar' Meze recently, definately one for the expert. And yes 'Efes' is still the place near EGOS, home of the Apache.

Sylvanas, cos the steaks there were brilliant, and you couldn't get that much meat off a feral cat :D

Akronelli Kebab House standards have always fluctuated, but if out of nothing more than some no doubt misguided loyalty its got to be Chris's. It was there I remember after an F3 Nav came over a bit squiffy that I at last felt able to give the waiter a tip "don't let people puke up on your floor"

Bu**er! I knew I forgot to do something in Akronelli last time.. If u are banned from Limmasol then It must be worth going to.....so we did... and I'm afraid to say, that it beats any Kebab hands down
Chicks everywhere!!!!

Polis - I try not to go there since I threw up on Harris's daughter
Chris - Its okay but always a bit of a rush

Swan - Best for ethnic food fight but...its been closed for a couple of years now

So my vote is for Sylvanas

The pork chop alone is reason enough.

I don't know why the Polis is so popular. Self service salad? Half the fun of a kebab is bellowing out for more grub. Mind you it's ideal for the C130J boys who like their parties in phone boxes.

Is it a general banning from Limassol or a "personal" one? Hope it's a general one as that always makes it much more enjoyable :)

Tried to vote for Polis again but it wouldn't let me. :(

Bit 'kebabed out'. Why not really go for broke and have an Italian at the place under the Akki Arms? Very very nice.

The naiive simplicity of self-service places which think that they're saving costs. They've obviously never encountered a thirsty and hungry bunch of Ascoteers....

One memorable occasion was at the Harbor Drive Holiday Inn brunch in San Diego many years ago when we were trailing back the RAF's F4Js. Our groundcrew got through a bottle of champagne each whilst waiting in the queue between door and food. Then stayed there all afternoon politely but insistently demanding more food and drink until night fell - then they adjourned to the bar......

And as for those 'as much as you can eat' places........
