As far as I know, Convair CV-990A is the fastest non-supersonic commercial transport to have ever been produced.

Reading an AA FCOM/Limitation it's written that her MMO was slightly below M.92. However, during a chat, some guys told me that her normal cruise speed was M.94 (?!?!).

Sorry, same old question: does anybody really know the actual VMO/MMO and cruise speed normally used when she was considered the fastest airliner? Was she faster than a Citation X?

Thanks!

I believe that she was faster than both Citation X and G650! Sorry I can't answer your other questions. I used to see it sometimes with it's smokey donks in the mid 80s... Check the TCDS

And, of course, there was the 1961 supersonic DC-8 flight at Edwards AFB:

Yep the DC 8 was the first civilian transport to go supersonic in a controlled dive from FL 500
