San, are you aware of the travel restrictions in place between E.U.?
Your pilot will most likely face a 14 day quarantine once landed in Malta.

Hi 'My Salami',
The paperwork is in place to ensure the pilot can leave again directly (the trick is to not leave the airport - hence arriving by midday and getting an afternoon/evening flight out).
Similar paperwork (but easier, and allowing a night stay) also for Milan the night before.

Not the case for crews. We also go to Malta and if we leave the airport we are confined to our hotel rooms.
