Hey folks,

I'm a 737 airline captain. I've known of Cobham Aviation since I was a kid and would love a chance to get to fly for them as I'm not really in this game for the money. Does anyone on here have any previous experience with them or have any links? If you could DM me that would be fantastic. Any help/ advice is massively appreciated!

Many thanks!

I say 737 old chap! Bit of a problem with your post..
If you are a 737 captain and cannot Google the company for their www. then really I would not want to be onboard your B737 when your flying ....
You either want a job or you don't.

Or perhaps I've already sent them my CV and was wondering about personal links from people who have had previous experience working for them. Just a thought...

They did have a recent recruitment drive, but recently they informed everyone in the hold pool to interview that recruitment is on hold for the foreseeable.
It is noted how much the pay for the position was improved markedly, in 2016 the FO starting salary was only 26000 a year, in the recent recruitment campaign it was raised to 38 k during line raining rising to 45k post training.

However with the recent influx of pilots onto the market it will be interesting to see what salary is offered when recruitment resumes.

actually DF I felt my hackles rising when I read “Top Gun’s” post too.

not so much what he said, but how he said it.....and how he came across.

“ not in this game for the money” yet quite happy to assume that we on this forum will be lining up with helpful tips to assist him indulge his clearly enviable ( and apparently employed) talent ( the clue is in his name!) at the expense of most of the rest of us who do need proper pay for a proper days work in this “game” where jobs are scarce.

Hey TT, sure I can see how you get to that conclusion but at the same time a bit of background on the company from possible employees telling of their relevant experiences wont harm anybodies job prospects. Just a bit of friendly advice can go a long way. On the other hand if he did not want to help out he could have just not commented at all.

It's crazy how tensions run so high in this environment. I remember years ago reading to PPRuNe and it was so full of toxic posts and jealously that I just couldn't bare to read most of it and turned off. Now when I come back years later it seems again people are picking out words and phrases and even the name of the user to cling onto with anger.

Topgun, I try to only post as best I can factual information; though all too often opinion will seep through. Like you I had stayed away from pprune for a long time, mainly as you say most posts degrade to slanging matches; furlough is the only reason I have had time to start posting again.

Cobhams contract was saved by the cancellation of ASDOT. That said the NATO Jewcs contract would have sustained a small part of the fleet had Cobham not won the now cancelled ASDOT.

Cobham had originally teamed up with Draken for the ASDOT bid, which would have replaced most of the Falcons with some kind of small fast jet (not sure what Draken had but probably an Alphajet type thing or equivalent).
