Sad news,
a helicopter crashed in France leaving two dead and five injured

Interesting to see that the first comment about an accident with dead or wounded crew is a polemic one.
You're Lucky to live in a quiet place but FYI, it's not the case here at the present time.
All the EMS helicopters are flying a lot in France but unfortunatly, they're not enough.
Hundreds of C-19 flights have been made in 3 weeks and it takes a long time to prepare and then disinfect the aircraft and the crew.
And it seems that the armed forces help the same way in other countries.

Military transporting COVID19 patients all over Europe on a daily basis since weeks now.
Terrible news for the families involved and we should all be very grateful to the crew and medical workers that are out there every day helping the sick and those in need....

Sad to hear. Hope the 5 survivors make it.
Military are assisting all over Europe as their larger airframes can easier carry an infected case in isolation along with teams.
Air Ambulance in Ireland flown by the military and funded via a commercial contract without tender is however a case for question especially after the recent demise of a proper legal civilian AOC air ambulance due to lack of funds. Just sayin....

Civil HEMS helicopters are not big enough to move patients in containment pods.

I am not here to share my sympathy...this is a rumor network.

Nope, i actually do live in the region of my country that is affected the most....and i got the Virus myself...so in opposition to the majority of people commenting on the Virus, i do know what i am talking about...
Interesting to read about the high number of flights in France....some operators in other countries actually stopped their operation-either due to lack of work, or to prevent crews contracting the Virus....

Mine is and it’s an EC135. However, what is the point of having military Heli capability available if I can’t be used in such a crisis.

That was Indeed a training flight and so what ?
The fact is that helicopters of the french forces regularly carry out C-19 flights including to Germany and Switzerland begause the EMS helicopters are too busy (or too short for the long flights).
And that's the same in other european countries.
Things are calming down a bit now.
