Dear Fellows,
I'm busy making a 1/32 model of the B-17 Flying fortress.
Waiting that paint is dry, i'm busy to read about this bomber, something is not clear for me.
from what I read, the B-17 was equipped with engine Wright R-1820 cyclone as summarized here under::
The Y1B17 with R-1820-32
The B-17B with R-1820- (I don't know the version)
The B-17C with R-1820- (I don't know the version)
The B-17D with R-1820- (I don't know the version)
The B-17E with R-1820-65
The B-17,F and G with the R-1820-97
What i'm interested to know is what changes has been introduced between each version of the R-1820-32,-65, -97
As well I saw a engine R-1820 -G2 for the B-17G...is it the R-1820 97 ?
I read as well that certain engines were equipped with a turbocharger from General electric...if fellows can have the patience to tell me more about that...
Thanks in advance
Philippe
