Qantas and Virgin Australia will mount a series of repatriation flights to London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Auckland as part of the Federal Government's push to bring home Australians who remain stranded overseas. The special flights will run across this month, and passengers will reportedly have to to pay their own airfares.

Qatar is still doing LHR-SYD and United is doing LAX-SYD so why are they doing flights on these routes?

Yes sorry SFO. Cathay and Royal Brunei are also doing Hong Kong to Australia.

Why is the Govt subsiding repatriation flights when commercial operators are still flying the routes?
