By getting basic information so wrong, it questions the veracity and integrity of their reporting, sadly.

Ooh-er, I’m not RAuxAF, but still a bit nervous that the recently retired will be called out. I have another 10 years of call-out liability left after leaving at 16/38 point and my civvie role has just been furloughed. So I may be seen as an idle pair of hands looking for a job...

If my existing salary, pension benefits, private health care, work life cover and existing military pension aren’t continued, any regular reserve call up letter will be getting a stiff ignoring. Looking at pay scales, I couldn’t afford to go back to reservist pay with no guarantee there will be a job left when I go back.

I may consider it if they sort out the money I’m owed due to McCloud and I don’t take a hit as per above.

Til then, will be volunteering locally (Red Cross/Food Bank etc) and ignoring any callup.

As an aside, anyone know why GSR/S10 stocks haven’t been loaned yet to NHS staff? I think mindful how effective these devices are, that the military haven’t had a mass callback of them to give to ICU staff and those directly at risk of infection.

If you have been furloughed and then get called up as a reserve do you still get "paid" plus allowance for being called up ?

I think you will find that a reserve liability is legally binding on you, so a stiff ignoring is quite likely to be followed by an equally stiff visit from civil, MOD or Service police regarding your desertion.Reserve Forces Act 1996, section 96: Failure to attend for service on call out or recall.(1)A member of a reserve force served with a call-out notice under any provision of this Act who, without leave lawfully granted or reasonable excuse—
(a)fails to present himself for service at the time and place specified in the call-out notice under section 32(3)(b), 43(4)(b) or 58(3)(c) (as the case may be);

is guilty of desertion (if section 8(2)(a) or (b) of the Armed Forces Act 2006 applies to him) or absence without leave (if neither
of those provisions applies to him).]
Because it's not a shooting war, the penalty for desertion is up to 2 years imprisonment. Your call out notice is considered to have been served if delivered to your home address. Good luck with your postie!

I think they will have a very large number of very militant, unwilling to comply reservists if they try. I always gave 100% in my military career, whilst witnessing a lot of jobsworths unable to do anything with their lives other than drive through the main gate every morning, devoting next to c0ck all to the job or helping anyone around them. Well, if you cant beat them join them. I and many pressed others will be a bigger burden to have around than not. And seeing as I'm not presently receiving my full pension in accordance with the law, they will gets whats they pays for.

They’re not going to call you up, don’t worry. Mobilisations at the moment are voluntary but done under the terms of compulsory mobilisation. If (and it’s an enormous “if”) you were to be called up you’d be remunerated in line with your current earnings.

Plenty of us RAuxAF doing it before they come and drag you away, kicking and screaming. So go back to sipping cocktails in the sunshine ;)
