Using FR24 this afternoon I went for a quick spin around Europe to see who was where. The relatively empty airspace allowed for an easy ID of odd looking tracks and icons none more so than the A4 which rose quickly out of Wittmund heading North East. Of course I googled "Wittmund A4's" and learnt a little about them, but there's so many more questions to ask. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of this Canadian operation at Wittmund?

Thanks in advance :ok:

Seen them both in & out of Wittmund.
They both sound very different that the normal GAF jets.
And small they are!

A Draken International A4 has been operating out of Nimes in the past few weeks, mostly over the Med South of Marseille/Toulon

Management didn't buy them out, there was some very criminal behaviour led by Clairvest that shafted all debenture holders in Discovery Air. In fact, the late Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Mike Mullen, was indicted along with several others.

Chopper - they don't have a single aircraft imported let alone regenerated, modernised nor certified with the FAA, and more importantly the USAF TAA at Wright Patt. Department of State HAS NOT authorized Third Party Transfer to a Canadian Private Entity and all aircraft are still in ISRAEL. This BS has been going on for over 6 years, they even promised UK MOD "a demonstration of their capability" back in 2015 and their behaviour and duping of the former ASDOT PT is widely accepted as to one of two reasons the programme was scrubbed.

Wonder if that might be the future at Culdrose or Yeovilton once the Hawk goes?

Gee - seeing those photos is a reminder of how snug that cockpit really is.
Mr Heinemann didn't leave any extra room.
You'd want to make sure you had your legs and arms tucked right in if you needed to get out in a hurry.

I flew the A-4M (and other things) with the USN at VX-5 78-81 - and I absolutely loved it. It was a great aircraft to fly and operate.

If I was 20/30 years or more younger, I can think of no better job than flying these machines as a civilian - and surprising those flying Generation-X fighters with what an old and small A-4 can do.

The powerful leading edge slats were my only minor gripe - as they gave me the occasional headache from bouncing my swede against the cockpit sides because I pulled "g" slightly asymmetrically!

A-4's Forever, etc, etc...................
