Are the U.K and Irish Authorities granting exemptions for class / type ratings and Medicals that are about to expire to allow continuation?

...which seems to address the pressing need for commercial pilot and engineer ratings and licences. I understand that AOPA are on the case for private pilot flying, training and examining. All this is highly academic and there's no rush as we won't be flying again for a month or a few.
