"Laddie" Hindley DFC died in his late 90's a few weeks ago. His memoire is enthralling. Laddie flew Kittyhawks against the Japanese in the South West Pacific region and RAAF helicopters during the Vietnam War. After WW2, his experience flying survey helicopters among the savage mountain tribes in the mountain wilds of PNG, is unparalleled.
He was my flight commander at RAAF No 1 Basic Flying Training School at Uranquinty NSW in 1956. We had coffee together in Canberra 15 years ago. . Laddie was the consummate officer and a gentleman.
