Hello,

I am part of an association based in Central Europe who aims to acquire in a near future a war bird to fly both privately and to sell discovery flights. We are several experienced pilots coming from multiple different aviation sectors : airline pilots, bizz jets pilots, ex military ..

We are seriously thinking about the L39 albatros, which satisfies all our criterias.

Our main concern is about finding spare parts, which is the reason of this topic. Do anyone of you who has experience in working with war birds and especially with the L39 albatros can tell me how easy to find spare parts ? I hear that it is quite easy once you have the relationships to find some in Eastern Europe but I would like this to be confirmed and more developed if possible.

Many thanks !

Kind regards,

Have a look at these guys -

https://www.code1aviation.com/

Upgrades engines, avionics, full rebuild.

I was dealing with them for a while and excellent responses. I didn’t end up purchasing in the end however it is still on the ‘want’ list!

Let me know how you go.

The L39 is a very cheap acquisition, therefore buy 2 air frames with the intention of keeping one for spare parts.
Think about it ... it does make sense!
