Ground Stop at NY area airports due to COVID-19

Ground stop now in effect — all departures stopped — for JFK, LGA, EWR due to positive covid-19 tests. Other regional airspace sectors halted through key “gates” through NY air traffic areas.

edit - looks like FAA site is temporarily down. From what I’ve seen, there may have been an evacuation due to a staff person testing positive.

So people still flying out of the most infectious city in the US, taking more virus around the US.... Incredible. I thought the governor had ordered a lockdown or shelter at home.....

It starts at 8PM local time tomorrow, Sunday the 22nd. NYC is already looking like a ghost town. I'd guess a lot of people are connecting via the airports there vs starting travel.
