Bit of a long shot but ATC is involved with NDBs so one of you guys maybe able to help me.

Hi I am a licensed radio amateur operator.

An old hand from the 60s was telling me he was lucky enough to be able to visit the Lic Lichfield NDB transmitter hut once when a CAA engineer was servicing the NDB transmitter...

I know its well gone now but my pal was describing how the transmitter was keyed with the morse or CW ident letters.

It involved a disc with cut out for the key arm to drop into as it rotated...each cutout was a dash or dot depending how long the cut out was.

My pal has been trying to find a photo of this keying arrangement without success.

There is quite a following for tuning distant NDB around Europe belive it or not.

Wonder if anybody can help us with finding some pics of old NDB equipment...and if possible the keying round disc...or even if this arrangement is still in use today...I very much doubt that it would be though.

Long shot I know.

Nick.
