Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to have a 787 type rating endorsed on an FAA license. I have an FAA license with a 777 endorsed on it but would also like to add the 787 to it. I have 1800 hours pic time one the 787 and 17000 hours total but my 787 time is on a Forien license. I can do the training and sim check anywhere in the world.

Pretty sure you would need a Boeing (or equivalent), short type rating course with an FAA oral and check ride. The checkride would have to be done in an FAA approved simulator as an example, Boeing Gatwick, Singapore, Miami, and perhaps Shnghai or Inchon. Don't know if Boeing is doing any "walk in" non airline training for the 787 at the moment. They don't make this easy! Might also check with AA or UAL. If they have a Part 142 school they may have someone who can help. I assume you know that in the US, the 777 and 787 are separate type ratings.

The only 787 sims on the FAA approved list are American's in Fort Worth, United's in Denver, Boeing in Miami and Singapore and Avenger Flight Training in Fort Worth. Whether or not AA or United run programs for people outside their airline I don’t know.

Are you sure that the LGW 787 sims are not FAA approved at this time?

Was refering to the Boeing owned and operated 787 sims at the LGW training facility. They must have let the FAA approvals lapse as the approval process is quite expensive.
