I wonder if Pelair will pay the same $85k salary to their Sydney pilots as they do in Melbourne.

Not surprised, the RFDS are not that popular with Govt contracts! The name just doesn't have the clout it once had -(
Lots of B200/350 drivers will be flooding the market in the near future!

The two organisations are like chalk and cheese in bad and good ways. A lot of the SE crew who stayed on with Pel Air left quickly afterwards when the Victorian contract changed hands.

Anyone know why the RFDS are doing the flights to Lord Howe Island for NSW Ambulance?

I would suspect that the B350 wouldn’t be suitable for a 800m strip.

Genuine question does a B350 need more runway than a Dash 8- 100 or 200 because Qlink have been operating into Lord Howe for years?

Maybe it’s an approval thing? Pel Air drivers maybe haven’t been approved to go into Lord Howe.

LDA factoring wet runway with a high weight K350 would be marginal at best.
I reckon the risk assessment has concluded that its better to let someone else do it for the few instances that they go there, at least for the time being.

....and Yes a K350 will "need" more runway than a DH8B any day of the week, think RTO.
