Project LOON on FR24. Pretty interesting stuff...will look for it when it gets dark.

The original post got me interested & last night I googled to find out more. Later, while killing time, I spotted what might be part of the project. NW of Londonderry there is a stationary object squawking BLL7776/7 at around FL620. It's not visible on FR24 but clearly there using adsbexchange.com. A trial to bring the delights of Google to the Western Isles?

Odd they they are not public on ADS-B. They are not so shy elsewhere in the world. There are usually a few over South America and Puerto Rico. Use of an Altitude filter usually removes any clutter.

And it's still there. I thought Project Loon was being wound up?

Whilst the callsign is usually TXP1000, it does occasionally change to BLL7776

Now "TXP 1000" Two devices reporting, same position but slightly different altitudes. Track corresponds to wind direction but is much faster than surface wind or FL450 wind, as reported by windy.com.

This is pretty odd. "TXP 1000" is showing a speed of 145 knots unchanging for many days and is staying in exactly the same position. Well a tiny change of .001 degrees occasionally. Any ideas? Something fake clearly. Maybe ADSBexchange has thrown a wobbly?

Each image from a different day. Shows "track" for day. See scale, zoomed in a lot.
