Hey.......when you go "Winchester" and the Grunts still need support from the Gunnies.....you do what you got to do to help!

Warning.....don't try this at home.

Only highly skilled, capable, and well trained Aviators should attempt this!

Maybe he parked in the pilots parking space 😜

The vehicle appears to get picked up by the weapons rail (?) at the outboard end of the stub wing - must have been on the limit of lateral cg to lift that!

If it wasn’t for the mountains, I would have said it was one of the Helidays at Weston Super Mare.

The narrative from the safety database says the aircraft failed to take off and collided with a car - doesn't look much like what happened in the video:)

Just a very crap piece of flying - he appears to be completely disoriented at the end of his approach and drifts back and down.

It looks like an rejected takeoff. The pic in the indonesian link probably shows the helicopter just before take off , Doors open and crewmember in front of cockpit.

Poor choice of take off path then:)

The description in the link of the original post suggests it was being flown by a Lt General, head of the Disaster Management Agency.

The final touch-down after all the mayhem looks remarkably controlled.

Maybe it was a case of “I have control......sir!” 😄

a Lt General, head of the Disaster Management Agency.

Creating more work for his staff, maybe?

9th Jan 2020, 11:17
Shame he isn't a Major-General - Major-General, Disaster has a nice ring to it:)

Rejected takeoff, likely overpitched with some NR compromises, yada, yada. Skip the Liveleaks video and look at the YouTube one in aviation-safety posted by Encyclo. Adds the context.

Good job that car jumped up and saved them by pulling them back to earth - otherwise they might have reached translational lift and goodness knows what might have happened then.

Like watching Borat in the gift shop.

Doesn't look much like a power loss caused the reject, unless that thing has epic single engine performance, and if it was that good there was no need to try and land where he did.

Looks more like a very heavy transition where he runs out of power before getting translational lift.

Strange that he runs out of power but can then lift a one tonne car up in the hover!

It didn't actually pick up a one tonne car. It got hooked up with the rear and dragged it around but the heavy end with the engine in it stayed firmly in contact with the ground.

Downwind transition gone wrong?

Looking at the video again around 31-31 seconds I would tend to disagree. The front wheels are visible above the bonnet of the car in the foreground and the front of the car appears to be swinging.

Damned lucky chap there as it's backing up, looks like he nearly gets hit by the tail rotor.

Yes, and the TR gets close to the car next to him. If they had clouted that there would have been carnage! I saw the aftermath of an Mi-35 that thrashed itself to death on an airport apron and there was debris everywhere - kept finding chunks of metal in the grass hundreds of metres away for months later.

I am still trying to figure out why a disaster management agency has an Mi-35......
