Hi all,

Has anyone applied to the latest Flybe MPL with FTE? I have just heard back with an invite to Exeter in the last week of Jan/first of Feb.

Details are very limited: what are we to expect at this stage in assessment?

I am also very keen in the BA CityFlyer MPL which I am hoping will open for applicants around April/May again. I assume results from this process will he kept separate and have no impact on a CFE application?

Good luck to all who have applied and, of course, happy new year!

Hi Lance,

I applied on December 18th, application still hasn’t been reviewed, very frustrating. Just out of out of interest how long did it take for you to get a response?

I believe there is a free stage 2 preparation pack available online

Hi Jack -

What is it telling you in the Candidate Portal?

I applied & completed the application on the day it opened. Can’t exactly remember when but it was around mid-November. I received a response on the 20th December, so a month give or take.

My candidate portal hasn’t changed but I received an email which went into my Junk folder, so perhaps you should check there (I only found it yesterday!).

I hope it’s good news!

Hi Lance,

Thanks for the pointer, just checked spam folder and no updates. Candidate portal is as it was when I finished uploading.

Could be because they are closed until 8th January will have to wait and see.

Hey guys!

I have received a reply today so don't get stressed if you don't have an answer yet. I have been in another selection process and I can tell you that they always answer, so it is a matter of time.

Hope see you soon!

That’s good to hear!

Is it the generic replying inviting you to stage 3? I received this a few weeks ago but no exact dates given yet.

In my case I have to wait until stage 3 finishes. As I have already done the assessment my results are sent directly to Flybe and they decide if I am a good candidate for the final interview.

Kind regards!

Hey guys,

Have you read the last news about Flybe? It seems that they are near of collapse. If we are finally selected I don't know what our perspectives will be, or even if we will have perspectives, what do you think about?

I guess they will close this one down now with the latest news....

I haven’t heard anything from FTE... so I am assuming it is business as normal again, as Flybe have just been saved for the meantime.

Not sure if it wise to stick 100 k investment in now ? especially MPL ... really in doubt if I should pull out ..

That is something I was going to ask you about, I have seen this many other times, companies which drag themselves some years, but finally they can't survive. Obviously, I wish the best to Flybe and I want them to be the exception, but statistically I think to invest 100k in working in this company it is almost a suicide. In my case, I would be supported by my family and I have to be extremely cautious. I think I will stay in this process a bit more to know if there will be any guarantee, but most probably I will leave it. What do you think?

I know Thomas Cook cadet who was also at FTE when they went under, and he has just graduated with an ATPL in December. So you won’t lose your money.

The ‘suicide’ aspect would be if they go under during your first 1,500 hours of flying for the airline... I’m not so sure what would happen there, especially with an MPL.

That is the thing... I trust on FTE Jerez, but not that much on the prospects of Flybe, and that could be a huge honeytrap, you get your MPL, the airline goes down and you are left with an immense problem after having paid all that money. It is a very risky situation. I have read that Flybe owes, only to the British Government, 103M€ in airport taxes, although Government is going to give them some years to pay it, we need to take into account that we are talking about a broke airline, I think that is a too big burden.

I decided today that I will not go on with Flybe programme; there are to many unknowns. Look at it realistically you want to be looking forward to start you first pilot job instead of worrying about the fact that the company is alive or not when graduating. Imagine you do get a job you need to get 1500 hrs as a MPL-er .. at this stage Flybe can not offer that guarantee... be wise 100k is a lot off money !! try to save 10 k then you know how hard it is to save 100k....

FTE dont have too many programs at the moment its a pitty ... so good luck with the decision !

Not a good time to start by the looks of it !

I agree with your decision and I will also withdraw, but for the interest of all of you, the MPL of Vueling is going to open in the next week, and that opportunity is a REALLY good opportunity, so we will see each other there! :)

yeah be wise with the money you spend ! Did FTE told you that about vueling?

You only need to search ¨Vueling MAPS FTE Jerez¨ and there you get it ¨the next weeks¨. I can see you are from Barcelona, so it is a very interesting opportunity. Hope to see you in the interviews!

Do you know whether or not FTE allow more than one active application at a time?

Ah - I can imagine it’s a difficult thing to do! I read your post on the other thread and completely agree with your reasoning.

Looking at the bright side, if you have the ability to pass selection for Flybe then you should have no problem with any of the other pilot schemes open at the moment!

Best of luck to you

Cheers Lance and yeah, trying to look on the bright side. At the end of the day I'm still going to be pursuing a pilot career, just letting the Flybe "opportunity" go! It'll all work out in the end!

Best of luck to you too :)

Of course I saw the website !! But I’m requesting if somebody has more information because on the website we can see : " The Vueling MAPS will open for applications in the coming weeks. Return to this section to apply for this programme."
We don’t know if it’s updated or not ?

Hello everyone! I am into the selection process for the Vueling MAPS 2020 in FTEJerez. Someone who applied the previous years can tell if Vueling ensures you a job after the training or, as it seems, it is just a "job intention"?
Does the airline offer you a contract until you reach the 1500 FH to convert the MPL to ATPL?

parkfell

if they go under during your first 1,500 hours of flying for the airline... I’m not so sure what would happen there, especially with an MPL.

If an airline ceases trading, then it is irrelevant which training route you had chosen. Your type rating & line training are identical with the exception of base training, as part of type rating issue.

Clearly the more experience you have, the greater chance of being rehired, all things being equal.

For an airline FO checked out in the RHS, does it matter whether they hold a CPL/IR or MPL for their employment?

I applied as well for the 2020 vueling maps. Anyone from the previous selection can tell me what to expect for the selection process?
furthermore I applied 3 days ago. How long does it take to get a response after applying?
