Any minute now someone will post the ancient cartoon showing Santa about to depart on his sleigh for a checkride and the examiner carrying a shotgun for the engine failure.... :p

Great. Going up against Santa in an arms race. That's a winning strategy. He doesn't even need to go high tech. Consider how fast and how many "presents" he could deliver ....

In the early ‘80s I was obligated to be at work until after midnight on Christmas Eve, but was fortunate enough to have access to an appropriate aircraft for a late flight to eastern Illinois to be around my family for Christmas morning.

After 45 min or so of talking with St. Louis center, I was handed off to Chicago Center (and, at 0100 on Christmas morning, nobody else was around on the frequency)..

An affable fellow at ZAU checked in with me and a few minutes later informed me that there was a primary target at my 12o’clock and 3 miles. He and I discussed this on and off for about 10 minutes, and the target seemed to maintain the same distance and bearing despite a couple of heading changes. I was above an overcast and was thinking maybe I saw something which might fill the bill, so I called the traffic, at which point, the Center controller stated: “Disregard. Primary target has resolved into what appears to be a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer. Contact Champaign approach 132.85. Merry Christmas”

Further proof of Father Christmas!??!
Spotted on Fuji TV camera on 12 December. In Japanese. Six seconds of footage. The aviation expert is explaining that lack of navigation lights rules out commercial aircraft. The "UFO" at the end is tongue-in-cheek.
(Skip ads in X seconds as usual bottom right.)

One year I received a flight plan notification from Iceland for a Santa Test Flight. I did my routine int brief for Red Air before briefing Green Air. Not a flicker from the audience. Afterwards OC EES asked me very quietly "did you just brief a sligh flight."

at least someone was paying attention .
