Meridian DC-8 registration.

Hello

I took this picture in 2015 in yaounde, cameroon. Unfortunately the registration is not being displayed and i was wondering if anyone had more info about this plane. It does show a name on the nose (sofia???). And is the bird still standing there or what happened with it in the meantime?

It would seem that it is most likely 9G-AXA which was the only one reported as withdrawn from use there in 2012. All the others in their fleet were Wfu at Accra or Ostend.

Edit: Acoording to Aviation Database AXE was noted derelict and in the process of being broken up at Ostend (Belgium) in July 2013.

The name on the aircraft must have been applied very late in life as I have not come across any photos of it (or the others) with a name on.
