According to a KSTP source, the helicopter took off from a St. Cloud air base and was on a training mission. The mayday call came in nine or 10 minutes after it took off.
The crews typically consist of three or four members, but it's unclear exactly how many people were on the helicopter when it took off.

From radio traffic there were 3 SOB's and the crash site was located moments ago in a gravel driveway on a farm.
