National Guard helicopter missing, rescue team deployed after report of aircraft down near St. Cloud Updated: December 05, 2019 04:05 PM
According to a KSTP source, the helicopter took off from a St. Cloud air base and was on a training mission. The mayday call came in nine or 10 minutes after it took off.

The crews typically consist of three or four members, but it's unclear exactly how many people were on the helicopter when it took off.

At this time, no other details have been confirmed. KSTP has the 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS chopper and news crews en route to the scene.

From radio traffic there were 3 SOB's and the crash site was located moments ago in a gravel driveway on a farm.

Ambulances cancelled, no further personnel required at the scene. :(

The Minnesota National Guard confirmed to NBC News it lost contact with the Black Hawk at around 2 p.m. CST and authorities are searching for it. Its last known location was about 10 miles southwest of the airport, according to NBC affiliate KARE (https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/national-guard-loses-contact-with-st-cloud-based-helicopter/89-21d0e2f3-d8dd-4e72-b2b9-fce918655cf1).

Master Sergeant Blair Heusdens said in a statement the helicopter was conducting a maintenance test flight and that three Guardsmen were onboard.

Channel 4's news chopper was told to leave the site for a few minutes so a State Police drone could do a survey of the scene.
