A couple of observations about the video. I heard an American accent giving instructions. Are there US exchange personnel on board? The F-35 is in US markings. Cross-operating or embarked?

I think this was filmed last year during initial trials; those aircraft did have US markings.

Yes, and there was a deployment of test personnel on board for the exercises. Comment is made in the program that they brought everything with them - own cameras etc. and that the aircraft is filmed/recorded as much as possible during the trials.

I noted some senior looking USMC guys on board in the back of shot during the rolling landing trials.

That little bird never stood a chance against the massive hoover!

As well as the Falcon, I assume that a 12 gauge couldn't be used against said avian intruders while airborne - provided one didn't hit a jet?!
No doubt they're all protected species - or there'd be howls of animal rights outrage...

The carrier seems to attract a wide variety of birds, including at least 1 Peregrine Falcon.
That predator's presence would normally be enough to ensure other birds give the area a wide berth. However, it seems the ship is treated as the 'local patch' by its resident birds, who presumably find enough to eat along the deck..
I wonder whether better hygiene in terms of food wastes etc would be helpful in lessening the appeal of these ships to possibly hazardous avifauna.

The curl at the top of an RN Officer's rank badge overlaps. The correct way to wear them is with the braid going under the curl at the front. The other way round ( as on Wings' chair) is known as 'going astern' and when/if spotted the wearer is the one to buy the beers.

If one has two sets of rank badges, and mixes them up it is possible to be going astern one one shoulder and ahead on the other.

Looks to me like they're on pop studs. Probably a box near by with a load of different ranks to be fixed whoever is 'in the chair' as it were.
