Well it started this afternoon with F15's creaming Ripon.....and tonight, the Typhoons have been absolutely paggering Leeming! Can I take it there's an exercise on at the moment? Many thanks to those who entertained me as I stood outside tonight!! I haven't seen anything like it in years!! Even Mrs MD was awestruck!!:ok:

Major night exercise on for next few weeks. Detachment of Swiss F-18s operating out of Leeming. Been pretty busy today over Yorkshire.

Ah, thanks for that SWB....I assumed they were F15's over Ripon but they must have been the F18's you referred to. I'm pretty sure they were Typhoons beating up Leeming.....but then again.....???????? Now, where's my eyespy book of military aircraft???

I really am due a trip to specsavers!:ok:

You may well have seen F-15s. Today we had those, Typhoons, F-35 and the hornets over us. Even an unconfirmed rumour that an F-35 went low-level through LFA17 up the lake district.

Indeed F-35s A and Bs will become increasingly familiar around UK airspace in the years ahead. One imagines.

anybody care to explain the word ‘paggering?’

Hmmm ... family impact there! Having just spoken to my son’s wife, it appears they live at the end of the downwind leg for rw 34 ... and all this activity is particularly upsetting one of their black labradors.

Does anyone know how long this exercise is actually going on for, before both Digger and Diesel end up as neurotic dogs?

Sounds like a school boy / school girl error to me.

Sounds like a school boy / school girl error to me.Looks like the end of the GCA left-hand pattern, near Thornborough. I guess the increased traffic makes it more noticeable.

When my parents retired and move to the West Country, I pored over innumerable Flips and charts to ensure they would be undisturbed ... what didn’t show was a low-lever Helo route used by the RN running up the estuary past Saltash!

Can you set them a target over here on the Vendee-Deux Sevres boundary.....

1. Buy house next to airfield.
2. Buy dogs.
3. Complain dogs get upset by aircraft noise.

How many times as an ATCO have we dealt with this sort of thing.
I used to say" So that was your Yappy Bastard that kept me awake all last weekend" ;-)

Quite! Been there and got that t shirt.....so when the owner of said "Yappy Bastard" (my neighbour) asked me to sign a petition against a young man and his band mates who were practising some quality rock music in his dad's garage on a weekend.....he got told to Foxtrot Oscar! His dogs constant howling didn't count as noise disturbance.......apparently! Apologies for thread drift! Things were disappointingly quiet last night.....comes on guys!!!

My neighbour's dogs were the source of considerable friction between us - long story which has happily improved, but certainly a case of don't get dogs unless you are prepared to look after them properly.

Aircraft noise on the other hand - bring it on! Rarely see any interesting mil over here... That said, looks like a couple of French Alpha Jets are heading my way at altitude...
