Speaking of the Plastic Parrot; Anyone know what has become of the example that I last saw back in 1992 (not so) slowly decaying on the tarmac outside the Club Dero in Port Morbid?

Love the aeroplane. Sort of.

I took my first flight in an aeroplane in VH-DAP when it was privately owned at Bankstown in the very very early thousands. Flew it on my first solo on pilots course after it had been bought back by BAE and pressed into service. Small world.

Give me a real trainer any day!

Apparently the designers, the manufacturers, the various military groups that spec'd the requirement and those military groups that selected the CT4 as a training aircraft got it all wrong. What a shame they didn't have the knowledge and wisdom of Capt Bloggs to draw on at the outset.

If they were that good they wouldn’t have needed the PC9’s lol.

Different training roles at a different time.

The Parrot and the PC9 had completely different roles in the training environment.

So the RAAF has previously attempted 'all through' pilot training with the Vampire, the Macchi, and then the PC-9. Without success.
I wonder if the PC-21 course is going to succeed, without a cheap trainer type to introduce basic concepts?

Don't get me wrong, I think the PC-21 is terrific.

Runaway Gun - you make a valid point. I don’t think it will be AS successful.
And I also think the PC-21 is terrific!
