Hi all, what happens if my class 1 medical expires and I renew it a few days/weeks after? What are the limits? Also does that have any consequences on my ATPL (apart from the obvious not being able to fly until I have a valid medical)

Many thanks

Speak to your AME, they will advise you.

Google EASA MED.A.045, part c) revalidation.
Limits are 2 and 5 years expired certificate for routine, assesment of aero-medical records and initial issue requirements for the revalidation, respectively.

Your Class 1 will drop to a Class 2 and the expiry date for this should be shown on the medical certificate. This happened me a few months ago.

If you renew your Class 1 without much delay it's just like a standard renewal. I'm not sure how long it would be before you'd need a full initial again.
