I am trying to establish what the safe single engine speed VSSE should be for the DA42. Having approached Diamond Aircrfat directly their response was that it is for the operator to determine V SSE. Elsewhere I have read that V SSE is formally defined in 14 CFR Part 23 (although I can't find that definition) and must be published in the AFM. In Europe that is not the case. I was wondering if there was an FAA approved AFM which does quote V SSE ?

The latest manual is on the Diamond website: Diamond Aircraft :: Technical Publications (http://support.diamond-air.at/techpubs+M52087573ab0.html)
The DA42 TDI manual states that it is an FAA approved document, but I couldn't find a number for V SSE in it. As I'm sure you know, V MCA is 68 kt and V YSE is 82 kt, I guess you'll have to determine the SSE limit between those for yourself. The FTO where I revalidate my MEP has a V SSE published in their own procedures and they selected 82 kt for this.

(Not an operator, but I've been digging through these manuals myself recently.)
