I noticed that the entire fleet of PC-9's is coming up for public auction.

Is there any restrictions on who can buy them

Operating restrictions - believe they have a civil type certificate in Europe

Complexity/maintenance - I gather on par with a PC-12? just a small cable operated airframe with a PT-6.

Are live ejection seats approved in Oz?

Out of sheer curiosity, what does Pilatus charge for a new PC-21 of you walked up to their sales office with credit card in hand - as compared to the government per unit price that includes spares etc. Websites quote this at over $10 million per airframe.

They already sold a batch of them at Avalon Airshow this year along with a batch of Kiowa’s. There’s a thread here on it.

They came with no avionics or seats but I believe the wiring looms were included.

From memory, they all went to South Africa.

I loved flying the aeroplane but you’d be dumb owning one. They’ve had a hard life and Pilatus has zero interest in supporting them.

I have almost 2000 hours in the PC9. It’s a great aircraft and is relatively easy to fly once you’ve flown it for a while. But I wouldn’t buy one even if I was rich!! They have been flown hard for a long time, I can only imagine they’d be expensive to run and maintain. I know it doesn’t come with avionics but the current fit out isn’t ADSB compliant (as far as I know). Also no GPS.

Also no GPS.
The aircraft would have been designed when WAC were still in use so the aircraft should be ok using a WAC.
