Evening all,

Haven't done LHR for a while.
Daughter flying BA to Berlin from LHR - 0715 in the morning soon.

Taxi driver (me) meant to be working late night before driving her there next morning.

What's the timing for LHR check-in, security, etc. BA state 2 hours before flight time?

In other words Auxtank pleads to know what time is reasonable time (leaving a respectable margin) to be walking into T5 if flight is at 0715.

With thanks.

I would say 05.14
However remember you will presumably use potentially the largest car park in the world. so would be prudent to target 04.15 and expect daughter would have time for an expensive coffee and you would be back in bad at a reasonable hour
Also depends if there is a need to use Check in / Baggage drop before security

We are flying T2 next Tues T/O 08.40 and plan to be at LHR for 05.00. … Breakfast at Weatherspoon's, or whatever they have there

Just need to get to security by T-45 minutes. If she has hand baggage only and a pre-printed or e-boarding card then an hour before is plenty. If she needs to negotiate those unfriendly new baggage machines then another 15-20 minutes should be plenty. I wouldn’t consider being there before 0600.

If its a monday morning DO NOT use the T5 exit/ramp, its worse than the M25 that time of morning. Take the T4 exit instead and turn left into the perimeter road, then take the up ramp from there, far far quicker

It's the M25 and near surrounds....
We regularly use and mostly it's Fecked in the area
Ps better to be 1 hr early than 5 min late

I seem to recall getting to Heathrow T5 very early in the morning a dew times, a few years ago for work purposes. Security seemed barely awake pre-6am, so despite very few passengers at that time, it still took a while to get through. You don't state from which direction you will be approaching T5, since that can make a huge difference especially in the early morning.

As chance would have it, I will be on the last scheduled flight of the day to Berlin on Friday night; am driving to the airport and have checked baggage. I intent to arrive about 2 hours before the publicised departure time, and you never know what the M25 will be doing on a Friday night (I intend approaching via the M3 and M25) - I always have a back-up plan or two to take alternative routes in case of traffic issues. I have previously cut across country via Chertsey/Ottershaw and joined the M25 at Chersey to avoid the M3, can also go via the A30 instead of the M3 or go via the Terminal 4 exit and perimiter road...... if timing is critical you should work out some alternative routes beforehand. This may include heading to Hatton Cross tube station and taking the underground into the airport if traffic is really bad.

The M3/M25 are clear up until about 6.30am although Mondays are always the worst day traffic wise, Takes me approx 25 mins from J4 M3 to T4 99.9% of the time

Reporting on our trip via T2, arrived NCP Car Park 05.10 (no hold ups M25 15miles) and got to Security 05.30 and made it to the London Pride gastropub for 06.00, avoiding the Retail Experience
We had no hold bags and pre printed boarding passs….so yes we were a tad early

one wonders what the traffic will be like if a third runway was ever built there... :suspect:
