Currently working out in China and with the news that TC have gone under thought I’d at least offer information etc to crew who might consider China and commuting. I used to be involved in the BALPA Crew Connect scheme and think it’s important to help colleagues out, even if with just some info.

And obviously any other crew can ask too! PM or ask here.

Best of luck

Whatever you do, don't even THINK about Cathay. This place is a festering toxic hole. You'll regret it.

Yup, was thinking more along the lines of skippers who want to remain LHS on 320/330s etc or long time FOs who may get a shot at rapid command processes on the mainland. Cathay has only been for the young and the desperate for a few years now.

Hope you got at very least 6-8 months salary saved up because that's how long it will take to get into China.

Left Cathay on COS08 wouldn’t go anywhere near there on COS18! Toxic and crumbling management. Many other options in that region. All the best to those impacted by the sad demise of TC in finding employment quickly.

Respect to the OP, the prospects are not that good. China is 5-9 months from the first contact to firs paycheck. 5 being the theoretical fastest, wishing luck to all but seriously count with 7 assuming no hiccups.

Usually, pilots with no more job left don't make it; especially with the 6 months recency approaching bail for a more quickly attainable job elsewhere. Those who make it through would had applied while still employed.

Fingers crossed for everyone.
